Importing Massage Tables from China: MOQ, Lead Time, Incoterms and Inspection

A step-by-step guide to importing massage tables and spa furniture from China, covering MOQ, samples, payment, lead times, Incoterms, documents and inspections.

Key takeaways

Typical MOQ is 50 pieces per model, samples ship in 3–7 days, mass production takes 25–45 days, and goods leave from Shanghai or Ningbo on FOB or CIF terms. Confirm HS codes with your broker, request CE/test documents for your market, and inspect before shipment.

Step 1 — Shortlist and sample

Send model numbers, quantities and destination to two or three suppliers. Order samples of the models you will actually sell; check frame rigidity, foam density, stitching and the height-adjustment mechanism.

Step 2 — Agree specifications and MOQ

ItemTypical value
MOQ per model50 pcs (some from 1 pc)
Colour / logo customisationFrom standard MOQ
StoolsFrom 200 pcs
BolstersFrom 500 pcs

Step 3 — Payment terms

The most common structure is 30% T/T deposit, 70% against the B/L copy. Trade Assurance and L/C are alternatives for first orders or large volumes.

Step 4 — Production and lead time

Standard models take about 25–35 days; custom colours, logos or new frames about 35–45 days. Peak seasons (before Chinese New Year and Q4) can add one to two weeks, so plan early.

Step 5 — Choose your Incoterm

  • EXW – you collect from the factory; you handle export clearance.
  • FOB Shanghai / Ningbo – we deliver to the vessel; you control ocean freight. The most popular option.
  • CIF / CFR – we book ocean freight to your port.
  • DDP – door-to-door, duties paid, for selected destinations.

Step 6 — Documents and compliance

Request a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and, where needed, a certificate of origin. Ask which models are supplied with CE marking or third-party test reports for your market. Confirm the HS code with your customs broker — massage furniture can fall under different headings depending on design and whether it is motorised.

Step 7 — Inspection and shipping

Book a pre-shipment inspection (AQL sampling) for the first order. Check carton marks, quantities, and a random selection of opened units for function and finish.

Step 8 — After arrival

Keep a small stock of spare face cradles, cables and hinges for after-sales service, and share customer feedback with your supplier to improve the next batch.
